And if you think that the Trinitron actually delivers anything
remotely like 800:1 contrast under anything but darkroom conditions,

I have no doubt that you see a difference in appearance between
the LCD and the CRT - but I have a LOT of doubt that it's due to
the differences in the claimed contrast ratio specs.

Does anyone have a list of what models actually use TN or S-IPS displays?

I'm specifically looking for 20/21" panels, but any info on which models

TN are for small sizes because the low viewing angle...

Sometime the brand itself say what is the technology.
Sometime these informations can be found on reviews,
news or forums.
I use a translator with the german prad.de forum.
There are very nice and expert people
I don't say for any kind of advertising :-]

Hitachi, Nec, LG.Philips produce and use S-IPS.
Sony, Eizo, Iiyama use it.

Samsung PVA
Acer/BenQ & Fujitsu MVA.
ViewSonic usually MVA from Chi Mei

But any panel can be a different case.....

In the forum I've read that 20'' Nec 2080UX
and new ViewSonic VP201 are play suited
(both 25ms S-IPS).
