I'm still learning (slowly) so don't follow me as I will fock us all up!
However if CM fails to improve using this recipe.....
-----------------------
1/ The pot:
Asus A7N8X Deluxe/Gold V2 Motherboard
2/ Throw in the brain:
AMD Athlon XP2700+ Thoroughbred (2170MHz) CPU
(XP2800+ T'Bread is available no more)
3/ Add 1stick of Dynamite:
DDR 512MHz Ram PC3200 (400MHz)
4/ And then some crap stuff:
Win XP Pro + SP1
Slightly over cooked, I have this meal running fine at 166*13.5= 2250
(2800+) and the CPU temperature is only 49C whilst doing some major number
crunching/testing.
However, I have made 200*11.5= 2300 which worked OK until I tried to push it
to 200*12 and now I can't seem to work out how it 'kicked in' the first time
as I never made this again!
The supporting motherboard software 'PC Probe' suggests that the chip's max
speed is at 3000MHz although I know I would never keep it cool enough at
that rate but as I'm only running at 49C (CPU temp) at the moment so I feel
another few MHz would be nice IF it were stable enough.
I'm still looking at pushing the speed up a wee bit and then adding another
one of them small memory thingies

to take advantage of the dual channel
DDR400 (so I'm told), I've also been thinking about another 'big boys toy'
to help CM in the number crunching department (over 100ticket wheels) and
that is an ASAT drive (or 2).

"If CM fails to improve using this recipe....."
...... I'll B open to offers? That's after I eat me hat!
Good luck with your 'mobo'. See, I now know all the lingo and everything.
If one don't try one will never know,
gARY
Still fun, but getting rather expensive chaps!
