Hi,

I'm in the market for a 20-21 inch LCD to replace my aging 21 inch
Trinitron and am unfortunately out of my league. Add to that the lack
of "large LCD" reviews out there and I feel like I'm going in blind
here.

So I'm hoping I can get some recommendations. I'm not a gamer -- I
occasionally play Flight Simlator where things move fairly slow, so I
don't think response time is a major factor for me though it would be
nice not to notice ghosting/etc during normal usage (Internet stuff,
applications, etc). Other than that, I'm not sure what specs are
important. My one concern is resolution -- all the 20+ inch LCD's
seem to be 1600X1200 native, and I'm not sure my eyes will be able to
handle it. Are there any that have a smaller native resolution?

Any words of wisdom will be immensely appreciated.

Thanks,
James

If text size is a concern, look for a good 19" with 1280x1024. I have a
Viewsonic VP201 and the text is a bit small but this is at home where I
mostly play games and surf the web. At work, I use a 19" with 1280x1024
because of the larger text size.

19" LCD has about the same viewable area as 21" Trinitron. Evidently
you are looking for an upgrade, not repelacemant Wink

Once again 19" LCD could fit your requirement, it is usually
1280x1024. 1-2 inches more would double or triple monitor price, but
if money does not matter, bigger size and resolution wont hurt. Most
operating systems and progamms allow to increase font size. With
higher resolution and some tweaking you will get better looking
letters.

Actually my 21" Trinitron (KDS 21TF) has a 20" viewable area. So I'm
looking for a 20-21 inch LCD with 1280*1024 native resolution. I've
been pointed towards the Planar's elsewhere, but their site doesn't
seem to say what the native resolution is. They say "up to
1600X1200", but that doesn't tell me anything. Anyone know?<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Viewable area for LCD monitors are like this:
18" - 359 x 287,2 mm
19" - 376,3 x 301 mm
20" - 408,4 x 306,3 mm
21" - 432,8 x 324,6 mm
23" - 470,4 x 352,8 mm
