I'm trying to find a reliable source for multiple 21 inch CRT
monitors. I'm supporting some legacy hardware (Distributed Control
System) that unfortunately can *not* be upgraded at this time. I'm
stuck with a very archaic 3-lead BNC VGA video output. Yeah, the
horizontal and vertical sync signals are combined with the green
signal.
We used to use the Samsung model 1100MB as a direct replacement for
the original monitors, but lately I've been unable to find any 1100
MB's... A call to Samsung confirms that they stopped manufacturing
those monitors a long time ago. (Figures...)
So, can anyone suggest another 21 inch monitor that has BNC connectors
and supports combined sync on green? The resolution is pretty low;
even a 1024 x 768 monitor would be overkill. (I think the standard
resolution mode for the controller is 640 x 480, though I believe
there is an 800 x 600 mode as well.)
Alternately, if no one knows of a replacement monitor that will work,
does anyone know if there is an adapter (or rather, a video switcher),
that will accept BNC input (with the sync on green) and ouput the same
video on a standard 15-pin VGA connector? I haven't been able to find
anything like this thus far, but perhaps I haven't been looking in the
right places...
Remember, changing the video output of the control system is out of
the question. It's running on some *very* obsolete hardware, and the
cable connections to the video driver are custom, non-standard
connectors. (It's 20 year old hardware.)
Thanks for any assistance!

I'm in the exact same boat! I've been purchasing Viewsonic V225 21"
CRT's to use on the VaxStations on MY distributed control system.
These monitors have BNC connectors, will take sync-on-green, and look
great at 1024x864. But I'm having trouble finding them nowadays.
Have you found anything in current production, that works?
