Hi,

I'm using 2 XP2400 Tbred2 with the SMP conductor mod.
I's using a high quality silver conductor and did the mode very carefully. I
also spent two HQ cooler.
After the mod the 2460 detects 2 x 2000 MHz CPU's but with the current bios
1.05 it says the the CPU's are running in an unsupported mode and in Windowx
XP it shows only one CPU.
After that, I read about 500 posts at 2CPU.COM and downgraded to 1.03 which
didn't boot at all with 2 mod XP 2400.
It worked with each of the one CPU's (only one CPU pluged in).
Then I upgraded to the BIOS 1.04 version and that recognizes both CPU's at
ATHLON 2000MHz and also no further waring of unsupported CPU mode.
Bottom line is, that at least my 2460 with my TBred2 XP 2400 runs only with
the BIOS 1.04 neither with 1.03 = no boot nor with the 1.05 = warning
unsupported mode and switch off one.
Some people a claiming the conductor might be bad and that's the reason for
the waring but why does it then work with 1.04? Is the conductor for BIOS
1.04 sufficient but not for the CPU determination in BIOS 1.05???
I've also heard that the V1.04 BIOS has bugs and 1.04.xx should be use (but
this was never an official released BIOS version).

Any ideas how I can use the XP 2400+ withe the up to date BIOS 1.05?

regards
Heinz

Hey I just posted about this very problem..
I have been running 2400 mp's since last Christmas
without problems - maybe 1-2 times I saw the unsupported mode..
Now, tonight, I'm getting it non-stop and of course only utilizing 1
cpu..

I'm running 1.05 which, like I said, worked fine...I did reinstall
windows 2k sp3 2 weeks ago but the problem has just
started tonight....

Thinking about switching cpu's anyway as cpu0 gets way more activity
than cpu1 - even out the lifespan. Also, some new artic silver might
be a good idea, along with blowing out the whole computer

maybe I will try the 1.04 bios...

sorry I'm not answering your q's, just throwing my 2 cents in....

You mean the L5 bridge mod ?

What else is in the box? (PSU, graphic card, network card ... )
Maybe BIOS 1.04 and 1.05 fix something related to your graphic card,
which may explain why you are not able to boot 1.03...

If it's working with 1.04 why upgrading to 1.05?
(I'm still using an "old" 1.03 BIOS with XP1600+ CPUs / no mod)

CM.

Hi rabid,

sorry, I didn't found your post (I only get the last 52 no matter if I'm
downloading the last 600 posts)?

I had two Palominos XP 1600+ which are recogized as MP CPU's but wanted a
bit more speed so I did the upgrade with the XP2400+
I did the L5 SMP mod. The only way to get that solved was to use the BIOS
1.04. I read so many posts so I can't guarantee that this version also
solves your warning + single CPU thing but give it a try and tell me the
result.

bye

Yes, or is there any other SMP mod?

No I had the same HW as with the two ATHLON Palomino XP1600+ which I ran for
almost 2years before I did the XP2400 TBred2 upgrade. The "older" XP1600
were perfectly recognized as MP CPU's (actually with this core and steppings
the Board was not able to see any difference to real MP's)
I have nothing changed only the CPU's. I've a Chaintech GForce 4 (4200 VIVO)
768MByte registered SAMSUNG ECC Ram (3 x 256), A Creative Audigy Platinum
and a standard Realtec network card in it.
As I said it boots with 1.03 but only with ONE of the old or new 2400XP
CPU's but not with 2 XP2400+ ???!!!

Good question. I though I gave a statement on that (people are claiming that
there are still a couple of bugs in V1.04) and sometimes a reboot fails and
I'm guessing that it was better with 1.05 (may that's not the reason).
I'm also concerned that I can't do any further BIOS upgrades so e.g to get
the 137GByte disk issue resolved ?!

Anyway. thanks for your feedback
