All,

Back in February, I got a 2466-4M to replace a dying 1836GX. At the
time, I could only afford 1 MP 2000+, so I installed that and it's been
working smoothly ever since. Recently, I got the funds to add a second
MP 2000+, and I started installing it yesterday. After minor fighting
with the heatsink, I got it locked on and hooked up, then hit the power
switch. Fans spin, drives spin, LEDs light up, but there's no sign of
boot activity: nothing appears on the monitor, there's no checking of the
floppy, etc. So I take it apart and try again. Same thing. Removing the
new CPU entirely, everything goes back to normal: system boots and all is
well. Any ideas (other than a bad CPU, that one I've got myself)?

Have you tried resetting the CMOS? When I first assembled my
2466-4M based machine, it would behave just as you're describing.
After resetting the CMOS according to the manual's instructions,
my machine booted right up.

Hope this helps,

Haven't tried that yet, no. Thanks for the info!

Are they the same core? If you've got one Palomino and one
Thoroughbred, I'd bet they won't work together.

How about trying the new CPU by itself?
Could help prove Mike's theory there about Palomino vs. Thoroughbred.
