I have an older MS-6167 with Athlon 800 that I'd like to set up to do
video capture if possible. I'm considering upgrading the video card to
a eVGA e-GeForce 4 MX 440 which is a 4x/8x AGP card. The 6167 only
supports 1x/2x AGP. Would I be able to use that card? What about
voltage requirements? Is there any point to putting that card in this
older system or would it just be a waste?

An other option would be to keep the current video card and get a PCI
capture card like those made by KWorld. How do I know if the current
video card in this system, which is an ELSA Erasor X, will be
compatible with the KWorld capture cards?

Also the KWorld cards require that the video card in the system be
compatible with Microsoft DirectX version 8.1 or 9. I downloaded and
installed the latest version of DirectX from Microsoft but I have no
idea what it is or where it is or what it does or how to find out what
version (if any) is installed on my system in the first place.

You might be able to get your present machine to capture video, but any
kind of manipulation would take hours and hours. You'd do better to
save any upgrade money for a new machine.
