I used to look at this NG and it used to have a lot of messages, but doesn't
seem to be many now. Either that or maybe my ISP is missing a lot of the
messages.
I am getting a 7VBA133U board from a friend which I will be use for testing
and plan to put a Celeron 566 in it which I got from a different friend.
They think its a Celeron 566, but that it might be a Celeron 533 (they
haven't tried it for a while), but the person I got the board from, bought a
new board (same board as they are giving me), and when they got their new
board, there was a note with it stating:
"WARNING
>> >>
>> >> This motherboard does not support older type of CELERON Processors
>> >> (300A-533MHz, PPGA package type, FSB66MHz). Please do not
>> >> install older type of CELERON processor on this motherboard.
>> >> It might damage your CELERON processor or motherboard."
Since the SY-7VBA133U has been out for a few years, why is Soyo suddenly
coming out with a warning about the Celeron 533 ? I think the Celeron I have
is a 566, but if its a 533 Celeron, it seems I can't use it. I wonder if
people put a Celeron 533 in the 7VBA133U and damaged the board.
What does PPGA package type mean? Also, I find FSB settings very confusing.
Is the RAM supposed to match the CPU, like 100 mhz ram should match a CPU
which the FSB is 100 mhz?
On the Soyo site under 7VBA133U it lists the maximum for PII/III and
Celeron is 1.1 ghz, but doesn't mention minimum CPU speed. So how can people
know the minimum speed the board will run.?
Any advice is welcome.
