Hai all,
I have
- MSI-board 865PE ms-6742
- P4-2600, 512kb cache, 800Mhz FSB, Hyperthreading
- 512Mb DDR400 (PC3200) dual channel DDR-SDRAM in 256Mb-modules
- Nvidea Gforce 4 ti4200 128MB DDR

My FSB=200 and the multiplier is LOCKED ???

What can be the reason that the multiplier is locked?
Shouldn't I be able to set it at 800 and a multiplier of 3.5

thanks for your advices,
Frank

Pentium multipliers have been locked since 1998.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Yes, all P4 CPUs have locked multipliers.

Your PC3200 ram runs at 200Mhz. it is DDR ram so now you are at
400Mhz. Next factor in the dual memory channels and now you have
800Mhz.
That's not truely 800Mhz but is supposed to run as fast as a single
channel at 800Mhz DDR. Confusing for sure.
200Mhz x 13 = 2600 or 2.6Ghz 13 is the CPU multiplier for a 2.6
Your system seems to be running properly.

I overclocked my ram to 250Mhz. the multiplier is 12 on my 2.4 P4 so
it is now running at 3.0 and the FSB is 1000Mhz<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

The memory controller speed and the frontside bus speed have absolutely
nothing to do with each other. Intel gets an 800MHz fsb by quad-pumping
it at 200MHz. Your RAM is not part of the equation, and is totally
independent.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

What is the use then to have the 800Mhz-specs on the processor?
I'm using only 1/4 of the possible bus-speed because my processor is
locked....
Is this a stupid combination then?

sorry, I don't really understand
grts, Frank

200 MHz is 800 on the board. Quad-pumped-200x4.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

The FSB IS 200mhz, and 'QDR', or Quad Data Rate.
