trying to get my new built system to run, can I - no way.
Its a msi 865pe neo2 with 2.8c p4 (800fsb), 2 x 256mb Aries pc2700,
PnY 5200fx graphics card.
Most the time on starting it hangs on "early chipset initialization"
but mostly on "decompressing bios image to ram for fast booting" (
using d-bracket for diagnotics), the odd time ( 1 in 10 ) it boots I
get a message saying Bios not installed then on the setup screen it
says "dram timing to tightly so reload timing", it will let me go into
the bios to set up boot devices etc.. then when I save and exit, it
hangs,i then start at the beginning again. tried resetting cmos but no
help.

First time i've tried this and its all going wrong, i feel like a
noob.

Anyone got any suggestions please?

I have seen this before.. suggestions and questions;

1. set your dram timings to;

2.5.4.4.8

2. short your cmos jumper

3 boot up with only 1 stick of ram. Alternate this dimm with the other dimm
in different slots until you do not have this issue (looking for a bad mem
slot and/or channel and/or stick of ram.)

3 flash your bios to the latest version.. (obviously, you have another box
or you could not post here.)

Try each of these steps in order, then post here and HOPEFULLY Report the
issue has been resolved. If not, then we can go from there..

Peace

I know this won't help. probably.
I've got the same motherboard
and a similar video card, PNY
GForce fx 5200. I've only got the
2.4 p4 with 800 fsb. It works fine,
so far, except that I had to go back
to an earlier version of the bios
after flashing to ver 1.3
Have you tried another card? Let
us know how you do so I can learn
from your experience. Thanks.
