Hi there,
I have the Epox 8K7A+ board, and I currently run a 2200+ processor. I had a
look at the CPU support PDF file on their website, and it says that this is
the max it will take. Does anyone know if it will take anything higher
than this? Also, can it be overclocked in anyway without causing damage?
Thanks >> Stay informed about: Epox 8K7A+ - Processor |

I had a 2400+ in mine. It wasn't recognized as such, even with the latest
(US) BIOS, but it ran fine at stock speeds (133x15).
Having said that, I doubt it would be worth your while to replace a 2200+
with a 2400+.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Epox 8K7A+ - Processor |

Thanks for the info, and I agree, not worth upgrading. Also, when it boots
up, it says 'Unknow CPU Type', is this normal? Any way around it? I have
the latest (or last) BIOS according to Epoxs 'Magic BIOS' program.

Yep, that's what mine said. No effect on proper operation, though. Just a
cosmetic thing.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Epox 8K7A+ - Processor |

Cheers Todd,
Checked it out this morning, and a managed to find two separately named
BIOS's on the web.
One is:
2923_235.bin (size 256Kb)
The other is:
8k7a2923-beta.bin (size 193Kb)
I always thought the BIOS size for this MB was 256Kb, so the second one
worries me. The first I got off a Japanese site, from what I could see it
was to do with different versions of the Highpoint controller.
I might try joining the board and seeing if someone has it still. I'm not
sure if I'm willing to try these two!
Regards

hmmm, tried this one, and the bios loader awdflash says it has the incorrect
part number. Tried renaming it to 8k7a2923.bin, but got the same response.
Are you sure about the file size? I thought they had to be 256Kb in size.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Epox 8K7A+ - Processor |

Sorry Todd, I retried the download, looks like the first one didn't complete
correctly. Got the second one as 256Kb, loaded it on boot, and it works
fine. CPU shows up correctly.
Thanks for your help!
