Here is the way it works: I disconnect the SATA drive and boot from my
existing XP install on my IDE drive. When fully booted I plug the SATA
data cable back into the SATA drive. It then shows up under Windows
Disk Management and I can format it. Strange, huh?
My next thing to try is to disconnect the IDE drive, and try to boot
from an XP cd, install the Via Raid drivers with F6, and see if I can
format and install Windows on the SATA drive. As it stands if the SATA
drive is plugged in, the system will NOT boot from the IDE drive. I
have tried the boot priority option, I have tried the INTA and INTB
options, and I have tried with SATA mode set to RAID and IDE. I'm
about to give up on it.
Thanks for the feedback.
