I have an epox 8KTA3 (non-pro). I have seen several posts stating
that with an updated BIOS from the epox FTP, the pro version will run
the AMD XP up to 2200 or even 3500.

What about the non-pro models? Is there a new BIOS for them that
allows upgrades beyond 1400.

Thanks!

I have a standard "8KTA3" Rev 1.0 with the newest BIOS (8KT32729). That MB
rev level or better is what matters as I understand it. I also just recently
upgraded to an Athlon XP 1800+ and had no trouble at all getting it going.
The only trouble I had was that the BIOS displayed "Unknown CPU Type" at the
POST & underclocked it. After the 1st POST I rebooted & went back into BIOS
and set the multiplier manually(11x by 133). Also because the BIOS & Windows
XP don't recognize the CPU, I don't have SSE enabled as it should be
according to CPU ID & Tweak-XP. If anyone has a solution to the "Unknown CPU
Type" problem, I would appreciate some info on how to solve that. Like a
particular BIOS update. I have them all I think. Other than that, it is rock
solid.
