Howdy folks
I have very simple question. There is a lead that comes out of the power
supply and has two wires into a 3 pin plug the same that you use to plug a
fan into,
I gather this is the temperature sensor for the power supply where do I plug
it in?

Please no wise cracks.

Lee.

I don't think so. I have a power supply (enermax) wich also comes with
a lead of that kind, it is the speed sensor of the power supply's fan.

It's a fan rotation speed sensor for one of the PSU fans (Enermax, for
instance). Plug it into any of the spare fan headers on the mobo if you
want to monitor the fan speed (using one of the many utilities which
read fans speeds, temps, and voltages .. I use MBM5 (Motherboard Monitor
5).

Alternatively, just ignore it - the fan is powered separately inside the
PSU, and this is just a monitoring connection.

It depends on your motherboard. It will connect to any of the 'fan' outputs
on the motherboard, and then allow the processor to 'see' what speed the fan
is spinning. Most modern motherboards have three or more fan connectors, one
for the CPU fan, one for the 'case', and an extra one. If your board has all
the fan connectors used, you just ignore it.

Best Wishes

How about any of those fan connectors on your mainboard? Wink

There should be some of them called "CPU Fan", "Chassis Fan", "Aux
Fan", "PW Fan" or so, they all have 3 pins and they all should work.

Hth!

thanks to all who replied and due lateness of hour I was low on brain power
and didn't frame the question with great accuracy.
