Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>mainboard>chaintech (more info?)

Hi,
I built a new computer using a Zenith 9CJS mobo, and i installed an intel
p4 3.2ghz Prescott chip(that I didn't even get a chance to tweak and that
I heard ran hot to begin with), and one gig of Corsair Dual Channel PC-
4400 on it, NICE.

And for cooling i purchased a GlobalWin Silent Stream Water Cooling Kit.
And for a case I got a X-SuperAlien Atxa6sw/500, which is nice but
noisy.

O.k. it was all working rather nicely until the Silent Streams water pump
decided to stop, which then fried my Prescott. (At least I beleive that's
what happened... I got home and the computer was off, so I restarted it
and the pump was making a real nasty sound, and the computer would turn
it-self off before full boot. Plus the tubes at the Pump/chip had a brown
tinge to them.) BUMMER.

So now I'm in the market for a new P4 chip. I'm looking for the best chip
for the 9CJS. One that i can over clock a bit and will not run to hot (i
live in the California desert), and costs around $300.00 or so.

I'm also looking for a little advice on a cooling solution. (thinking
about water cooling again eccept not so cheap, maybe a Zalman Reserator
w/ a different case. One that's quieter, with-out so many fans.)

What do you think... any ideas?

Thanks,

PackRat2112

Hi!

I plugged 3.2 Prescott boxed (with it's original fan), still works OK on
WinXP Pro, 1GB Kingston RAM!
