Which configuration is better for a Raid 0 array? Using the Nvidia Nforce
controller or the Silicon Sil3114R controller? I also want to have my 3rd
SATA on a seperate controller. Which controllers am I better off doing this
with? Thanks in advance.

Either performs well. The Nvidia option seems to use slightly less system
resources, while the Silicon option is a little more of a Bus hog, but
doesn't have the problems some folks experience with Nvidia drivers.

I'm using the Nvidia RAID 0 array with two raptors. No issues whatsoever.

Nvidia for the Raid.Connect to Sata1 and 2 connectors.
Nvidia for the single drive.Connect to Sata 3 connector.
Setup the Raid Array using the 2 drives you want.

Disable the Sil3114R in bios settings.

Why on a separate controller? Any special reason?

I'm not sure, but it might be that having them on a different controller
actually gives less throughput when copiing files from the one drive to
the RAID or vice versa.

In my case, I was using the nVidia RAID, and bought a spare 500gig 3Gb/s
SATA NCQ drive. As only the nForce controller supports the 3Gb/s, I
hooked it up on that, and it works like a charm - and much faster than
it would on the silicon controller. I also liked the fact that I didn't
need yet another driver for this.

If the drive is a SATA 1.5Gb/s one, it'll be interesting to see which
option works out faster.
