Hi,
I am still having trouble with my AK39N. I have a new Enlight Power supply,
new DDR RAM, new 40gig maxtor drive, and new 1.3 Duron proc. I have run the
maxblast software to partition and format. I start the XP install and I get
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR EQUAL error. I have installed an older ATI Rage pro AGP
card and a 32X Samsung CDR. I had the same error with my older 1.0gig
Athlon proc, so I bought this new Duron proc. Any ideas? Seems to boot
ok. Is there anything in the Bios I need to change or disable to get XP to
load, or anything you think might give XP a hiccup? I have had such good
luck with the many Shuttle Boards I have used back to my old HOT-555 socket
7 board. I have been building PCs for over 10 years and this one has me
stumped. Oh, I also installed the latest BIOS revision too.
Thanks for your help.

Sorry to hear you are still having problems. Do you have any other
cards in there, such as sound card or modem? If so, pull them before
you try to install windows. I once had a PCI modem that would block the
installation of Win XP. Once windows is installed, you can turn off the
PC and install the other cards, they should be recognized. Since you
are getting the same error even as you change out seemingly all the
parts, a modem or sound card that is staying common might be the
explanation. Try to keep the peripherals attached at an absolute
minimum until you get Windows installed. That would include a separate
network card if you use one. If you are not using a USB keyboard or
mouse, also shut down the USB ports in the bios, disable the network
controller in the bios and the built-in sound. Any of these could be
contributing to the conflict. Go bare minimum, everything pulled or
disabled that is not essential to install. Then once installed, you can
start re-enabling these extras. Any case, that is what I would do. Let
us know.

Works!
Here is what I did.
1. Installed win98 (no problems), shows that the hardware works.
2. Upgraded to XP, didn't work
3. Changed BIOS to (not PNP OS), turned off all peripherals earlier
(parallel, serial, usb, sound, network)
4. Swapped out RAM
5. Tried upgrade again, got only two more BSOD, but different
6. Then got lots of copy errors while installing XP, had to go to other
computer to find all the missing .dll files
7. It finished! And it has been running fairly steady so far.
8 Installed latest 4in1 from Via
9 Installing the latest updates from microsoft now.
I will try installing my Soundblaster Live 5.1 next after turning off
onboard sound.
Then lastly the modem.
Thanks for your help on this thread and previous ones.

Hmm... That is the first you mentioned of many copy errors. You may
have either a bad Win XP disk (I've seen them before) or a faulty or
dirty CD drive. Perhaps this has been the problem all along and that
some file(s) were not being properly copied. If you have Nero, then you
can check to see if the cd drive is properly reading you win xp disk by
using Nero CD Speed. You can use the Extra menu and run the scan disk.
