Hi, Larry.
The backplate is the little metal piece that fills the hole around all
the little connections in the back of the computer (PS2 mouse/keyboard
connections, parallel/serial ports, USB connections, sound connections,
network connection, etc.). If you do not have the correct backplate, then
you may end up having to run your computer with a open hole around these
connections. How much of an issue this is up to you.
I do not really know how well this board performs, one way or
another. Since it is based on the VIA KT400 chipset, I would expect it to
decent, but not great. Both the power supply and the Geforce3 Ti200
should work fine with this motherboard.
