I found a good price (I pressume) on an FIC AN19C mainboard.
The vender said the reason they are selling the board cheap ($42.00)
is because the distributer didn't include the backplate, so it was
defective. I'm not sure what this is. Is it needed to be able to use
the board, or can it be used without? The next cheapest price I can
find for this board from a vender with a decent reputation is over
$10.00 more.
  Also... Is this board a nice performer? I don't really
overclock, so overclockability is not an issue. I have a 400W PSU.
Would this be enough for the board, and would a GF3 Ti200 videocard be
ok in the 8X AGP slot?<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

A metal plate (about 6" x 2") that ypu attached to your computer case
and has cutouts in it so that your motherboard's i/o fits thru these
openings. Such a USBs,comports, printerport, sound jacks, etc.

Probably not needed, but it would affect your cooling air paths.

I have no experience here.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Hi, Larry.

The backplate is the little metal piece that fills the hole around all
the little connections in the back of the computer (PS2 mouse/keyboard
connections, parallel/serial ports, USB connections, sound connections,
network connection, etc.). If you do not have the correct backplate, then
you may end up having to run your computer with a open hole around these
connections. How much of an issue this is up to you. Wink

I do not really know how well this board performs, one way or
another. Since it is based on the VIA KT400 chipset, I would expect it to
decent, but not great. Both the power supply and the Geforce3 Ti200
should work fine with this motherboard.
