My brand new AN7 bios seemed to have failed, the guru chip shows post code
90 then... nothing. Is there anyway you can flash using a floppy or some
other trick besides "hotflash" since it sounds kinda drastic.

Response please!

Your <Q> #1 ........

I assume your '90' is hex ... post 'codes' are normally provided in
'hex' .

==> [phoenixGPBC17-c.html] 3-2-1-1 (90h): Initialize hard-disk
controller
.. a 'snip' from the whole article ...

Also from a different 'source' ... 'hex' designators, I believe.

[80] [81] [82] [83] [90] [91] [92] [93]

80...83, 90...93

Primary Master IDE Power Off(80)/On(90)
Primary Slave IDE Power Off(81)/On(91)
Secondary Master IDE Power Off(82)/On(92)
Secondary Slave IDE Power Off(83)/On(93)
..................................................

Kinds 'smacks' of a loose(bum??) Molex plug ... maybe hopefully.

I'd strongly suggest a Bios Savour device be added to your PC ...
use the DOS real_mode flasher ... leave the 'Win' version to the
venturesome.

.....................
Your <Q> #2 ........

If the 'boot_block', in the modular bios, =remains= intact ... a 95%
chance ...
.. use the DOS flasher w/ =appropriate= batch file ...
.. PCI/AGP vid cards may not screen "show' ... watch the flpy lite for
activity
... pray a lot.

Hot Flash best done with proper =insulated= tools ... 'dental floss' ???
and pre_loosened bios eeprom chips ...

In my KV8-MAX3 I got POST code "9.0" not "90" which was uGuru POST code and
means that uGuru is transferring control to BIOS but BIOS doesn't respond.
I'm waiting for a new BIOS to check if I can get the board working with new
BIOS chip.
