Post subject: ASUS P4S533-X CPU qUeStIoN????
Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>mainboard>asus (more info?)

After toasting my old PC I obtained an ASUS P4S533-X motherboard and
patched together old parts and got a decent PC up and running. I
snagged a Intel Celron - 2.8/128/400 and things have been pretty good
with it. I just now stumbled across an Intel Pentium 4 - 2.4/512/400
and what I was wondering is if my system would run better with the P4
even though it's only a 2.4 compared to the Celron at 2.8.

Not all knowing when it comes to CPU's but I do run some engineering
app's on my PC and heard they run better with a P4 then a Celron.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott

Looks like the Celeron 2.8 is the winner:

I am going to take that back. The benchmarks for other tests have the P4 2.4
doing better.

The Pentium 4 is more powerful for calculations.

I believe the motherboard can handle a 3GHz CPU and if it's neck and
neck between the 2.4 P4 and the 2.8 C then I might just hang on for
now and try to obtain a 3GHz P4... other then that fact that it's more
$$$ into an already deep hole, would I see a lot of benifit in the
3GHz P4 over the 2.4GHz P4????

Thanks for the info,
Scott
