Hi,
I just re-built my computer. A new motherboard, a new processor and a
new video card. My monitor is a Dell 2405FPW.
I now have an ATI All-In-Wonder X800XL. After I install Windows XP, I
install the ATI software & drivers. First thing I notice, which I can
never understand, is why there are 2 entries in the device manager
under the 'Display Adapter'. There the the video card, and then
another copy labeled 'Secondary'.
At any rate, I cannot get out of 1024x768 no matter what. My desktop
is a scrolling desktop.......and, if I go above 75htz for a refresh
rate, I get this error message that says 'Can not display this mode'.
I've tried updating my drivers and everything.
If I use the 'Secondary' entry in the device manager, disabling the
first, I can get to 1600x1200, but each time I boot I get an ATI dialog
box that says no ATI graphics drivers are installed......
I'm going nuts here, and this is a new install of Windows. Can anyone
offer any assistance, since it looks grim that I'll get it solved
myself......
Thanks,
Arthur >> Stay informed about: ATI Driver Issue |

Hi
install the ATI Cat 5.11 driver with the Control panel, not the CC.
Works with my X800XL.

It's for the second VGA output. Don't worry, you can leave it alone and it
won't affect performance. The card has two Digital Analogue convertors.
It's in case you want to use TV Out or plug in another monitor.

The second display adapter is normal so leave it be. Its for 2 outputs to
work simultaneously - 2 monitors or a monitor and TV. As for your monitor -
you need to install the correct driver for it or set up the parameters for
the monitor in the control panel ie max resolution and refresh rate. Just
leaving the monitor as default or plug n play won't do. >> Stay informed about: ATI Driver Issue |
