Post subject: ATI website problems
Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>videocards>ati (more info?)

Hi,

Trying to get hold of latest Catalyst drivers with just the ordinary control
panel. I Used to follow the link from the ATI home page but for some reason
its only showing Version 5.6 with CCC (32mb) and the Mobility one.

So clicked on "Drivers and Software" tab but keep getting this

Your session has expired and the action has not been completed. If you
entered data in the previous screen and would like to save them, follow
these steps.
a.. 1) Click this button.
a.. 2) Select your unsaved text, press the Ctrl+c to copy it.
a.. 3) Refresh your browser and begin your process again.
a.. 4) Press Ctrl+v to paste your data in the appropriate text box.

If you just want to restart your session and discard any possible unsaved
data from the previous screen, click below.

This also happens on "Find a Driver" within the Customer Care tab, in fact
it happens on any link connected with driver downloads. The only one I can
download is the 5.6 drivers with CCC from the home page which I don't want.

I've cleaned out my cookies and temp internet files but to no avail, I've
tried it with all security (firewall, antivirus, pop-up blockers) turned off
and it still shows the above . I'm based in UK, using XP Pro and Broadband
connection. All other sites that I visit work fine so maybe its a problem at
their end? Any suggestions as to what the above means or maybe another link
I could try.

Cheers
Rob

Hi Rob,

I've noticed ATI's site having intermittent problems throughout the day.
Probably some back-end database maintenance going on or something. You can
access all the 5.6 file links from our site if you wish:

Hope this helps you out.

Hi Russell,

You're probably right about ATI's site so I've used the link you gave me
which worked a treat.

Cheers

Rob

Good to hear you got the file. Given some of the recent press regarding the
promised performance gains of the 5.6's, no doubt there are a lot of humans
currently trying to download them. Personally, I was hoping for Creative
Labs to release a final build of their Audigy 2 ZS drivers that have been in
beta stage for a couple of months, and then I was gonna do a total OS
re-install with that and the 5.6's! Battlefield 2 will support this
mysterious new OpenAL standard and so I should hope Creative Labs will have
their drivers out quick!<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

There's nothing new about OpenAL, it has been around for quite a while now
and the drivers support it.

Get the most current OpenAL installer from Creative at

(only for Windows XP 32-bit)

Problem is that the beta CL driver with OpenAL is incompatible with the apps
for the card sometimes as I understand it. ie things like the Surround
speaker setup and such. At least thats what the readme for the beta's warn.
I keep hopeing they get a full none beta pkg out myself<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
