I have an AX34-U rel 1.13 motherboard, which supports USB 1.1.
I have just purchased a PCI USB 2.0 controller based on the VIA VT6212
chipset.
I am running WinXP Pro w/SP1

I think it is not working properly because.....

I have a BenQ 5250C scanner (a USB 2.0 device) which will not work
when connected to a port on the USB 2.0 controller. The funny thing is
that if I attach a USB 1.1 hub to the same port as the scanner and
plug the scanner into the hub is works fine, just slower.

A SanDisk thumbdrive (USB2.0) and a no name thumb drive (USB1.1) both
exhibit the same odd behavior.

I've tried the USB card in several PCI slots with no change in this
behavior.

All very curious and rather frustrating

You mention that you are using Windows XP with SP1, do you have any
other updates. You might want to do a google search on usb2 + Windows,
as when it first came out many people had problems with usb2 with
Windows. Are you sure the usb2 card is true usb2, some manufactures
claim usb2 cards, but are not 100% compliant to the standard.

I also would make sure that bios of the board is up to date, also make
sure you have the latest drivers for your scanner.

You also might want to check Aopens site to make sure you have all the
software installed for that board. If it still happens, and you are
within warranty you might want to RMA the board.
