Hi,

I'm not necessarily interested in overclocking at this time but
figured I'd ask a question in this forum after a Google search as the
participants here likely know the most about RAM and compatibility
from what I've browsed through.

My old system is going to my son and I believe I'd like to build a
system with the Abit IC7 Max 3 board. My two previous Abit boards
never gave me problems so I'd like to stick with Abit.

My primary interest is in stability at this time. Looking at
Monarch Computer I am offered a range of memory options [that they
will test before shipping]. I'd like to get 512 meg of RAM at this
time and to do so with 2-256 meg chips. I have twice had memory chips
go bad on me. The first time was a a single 512 chip and I was down
for almost a week. I managed to get 2 -256 to replace it and again
lost a chip but could keep running. Both chips were from Crucial
Memory.

Here are the options from the drop-down window when I chose the
Abit IC7 Max 3 board:

DDR(266)2100 - 512 [2 pcs 256] Muskin 990997
DDR(333)2700 - 512 [2 pcs 256] Corsair XMS (TwinX512-2700LLPT)
DDR(400)3200 - 512 [2 pcs 256] Corsair XMS (TwinX512-3200C2PT)
DDR(400)3200 - 512 [2 pcs 256] Corsair XMS (TwinX512-3200LLPT)
DDR(400)3200 - 512 [2 pcs 256] Muskin 991088
DDR(400)3200 - 512 [2 pcs 256] Muskin 991139
DDR(400)3200 - 512 [2 pcs 256] Muskin 991155
DDR(400)3200 - 512 [2 pcs 256] OCZ (OCZ400512ELDC-K)
DDR(400)3200 - 512 [2 pcs 256] OCZ (OCZ400512ELDCPE-K)
DDR(433)3500 - 512 [2 pcs 256] Muskin 991090
DDR(400)3200 - 512 [2 pcs 256] OCZ (OCZ433512PFDC-K)
DDR(466)3700 - 512 [2 pcs 256] OCZ (OCZ466512PFDC-K)
DDR(500)4000 - 512 [2 pcs 256] Corsair XMS (TwinX512-4000PT)
DDR(500)4000 - 512 [2 pcs 256] Muskin 991128
DDR(533)4200 - 512 [2 pcs 256] OCZ (OCZ533512PFDC-K)

Could someone please tell me what the best choice would likely be?

Thanks in advance,
John

Hi,
if your interested in OCZ Memory then I can recommend that you go to their
offical forum and post that you are interested in finding a good memory to
run in your IC7-Max3:

This forum is populated by an army of OCZ techs who will be more than happy
to help you out.

Give them a try, and say *Big.Wayne* sent you Razz

I have this mobo. Those mems you listed are all great quality name brands.
If you are not planning on OCing then you best bet is to limit your
selection to 3200 mem. Look for the best timings like 2,2,2,5. Check with
the manufactures and try to select mem made with BH5 or BH6 chips. Stay away
from CH5.

You can get some great help at the Abit forums here->
