I've built a system on a P5K motherboard, 6600 Quad core, 2 gb RAM. On
bootup I get this message:
'Intel CPU uCode loading error'
press F1 to resume.
It boots fine after I press f1 but I find it annoying. I have searched
around and it seems that a bios update should take care of it but I've
also read that sometimes bios updates can go ugly. What is the
"safest" way to do it keeping in mind I'm a weekend warrior:)
Btw this pc does not have a floppy drive.
Thanks for any info.
Gary

Where I'd start, is clicking the BIOS tab on the horizontal part of
this page. I don't see any warnings in red text, on the BIOS download
page. You check here first, because sometimes there are known problems,
and this is where they are officially acknowledged.

Other places to look for "my motherboard is bricked", are here:

http://vip.asus.com/forum/topic.aspx?board_id=1&model=P5K&SLanguage=en-us

Example, about five entries from the top of that page.

http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20080216074309140&board_id=1&mo...=P5K&pa

"I downloaded the file and used Asus Update... computer just froze"

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductReview.aspx?Item=N82E16813131180

"Online bios update erases the bios and then the board needs to flashed by doing RMA."
"EZ-Flash lets you update the BIOS from a USB thumbdrive painlessly"

After examining all the evidence, read the manual and discover what
methods are available. Since some motherboard BIOS are getting so
big now, in fact some of them don't even fit on a floppy any
more. Personally, the only thing I'd stay away from, is a Windows
based flasher.

You can look for experiences here. One person had a problem with their LAN
after using 0902, but the original poster did not post back to say whether
he could fix it or not.
