I have had the Aida system info program for a long time. Today I upgraded to
the latest version and now get the blue screen fatal exception. Says : fatal
exception has occurred in OE 0028:c18d11d4 in vxd smartvsd.vxd smartvsd(01)
+ 00000074. What exactly does this mean, and what do I need to do to fix it.
Was running fine till upgraded. System is AMD Athlon XP, 2300, 512 mb ddr
ram. Thanks for any help

When do you get the blue screen? If it's just when you start Aida then
remove it, defrag, and try reinstalling it. That file, smartvsd.vxd, it
doesn't exist on my machine (XP Pro), except in a folder on a data drive
where I backed up a whole Win 98 HDD, it's in the Windows folder of the
backup folder. It's not a part of XP or Aida AFAICT. Do you dual-boot or did
you install an upgrade version of XP over an earlier version of Windows?

If that doesn't fix it then just go back to a recent (pre-Aida install)
restore point. Maybe, for some inexplicable reason, the new version doesn't
like your machine. You may have to go back to the old version.
