Is there any way I can make the Alt Gr key on my keyboard behave like a
regular Alt key?

I have a british system running ME

If you were running windows 2000 or XP you could remap the scancode
reasonably easily, but since you're not, you would have to find a bit of
software that does that.

I believe it is usual to have the left alt key with a scan code of 0x38 and
the right alt key to be escaped, so: 0xE0 38.
