| I bought a Fuji S3000 a few days ago. It's just great except the
software won't work on my Windows XP computer. I've tried every thing
on the Fuji website, and contacted them. They said I will hear from
them ASAP two days ago. I can get my money back, so what other camera
should I look for (non-Fuji). I liked the S3000 because it would work
with my telescope and could serve as a slide scanner.

What kind of problem are you having?
I just upgraded from a 3800 (which is now the 3000 more or less)
to an S5000.
The only thing I needed to install, for XP to "see" it and work with
it was the USB driver. I didn't need any of the software that comes
with it, because I use AcDsee to move the pictures to the computer,
and Photoshop to adjust/crop/print them.
My version of XP is SP1, with all security updates.

You have something wrong with your XP, not Fuji.
Without even installing any Fuji software, your XP should receive the
pictures automatically when you plug in the camera.
Only install the software if you want all the extra features of the
software.

You are right, it should work without the Fuji software, and it did a year
ago. After installing the Fuji software, it will not work. After
uninstalling the Fuji software, it will not work The XP had no problem
before Fuji. What other brand of camera should I buy after returning the
Fuji for a full refund if they do not respond to my request for help in two
more days?

I suspect you will have a problem with any camera you buy. At least,
until you reinstall/fix your XP.

you would'nt happen to have the software for using the S5000 as a web cam. I just bought it second
hand and the software wasnt with it. (well it was but it looks like the cd has been used as a
coaster and it dont work.)
TIA
