I have a dual AMD Tyan system - and I reckon the chips and especially the
northbridge chipset could be cooler. Unfortunately my case is pretty average
for air circulation - its design allows only 2 fans.
What fan/heatsink combos are excellent for Amd MP's and chipsets?
Thanks.

- Two fans is sounding kinda excessivly limited for a system of SMP
spec. One option would be maybe to modify your case, creating blowholes
and mounting intake and exhaust fans. Really though I suspect that your
case may be wholly inadequate for the system you are running. I would
strongly recomend upgrading the case preferably to an aliminium one.
Lian Li offer a range of cases that you get at decent prices with
pre-installed fans. Mine came with 2 inlet and 2 exhaust fans and if you
look around you can get them at prety competitive prices. Also make sure
you use a good thermal compound such as Arctic Silver. As for specific
models of heatsinks etc try actually reading some of the threads in this
group or looking for reviews at places such as tomshardware.com. Also,
get yourself some mini heatsinks/fans for your chipsets.

thats the idea - I just needed brands and recommendations. Thanks for the
suggestion of grabbing a better case - it looks like my best idea.
The board is a Dual AMD Tyan (only doing 2x1.2mp atm) so I could probably
cook eggs if I upgraded the chips. The case is a server case, I assume they
didnt design it for such high cpu loads :/ My bad.

Well I'm using globalwins on my machine (Dual XP Palaminio 1800's) and
I've never had any problems with overheating. They're also nice and
silent with a noise floor around 25-30db I think. Not sure what model
they but I think Globlawin are a decent option. Somoene posted some
links to tomshardware reviews of sinks/fans in here, there are some good
quality fans there too.
