a few other probably dumb basic questions.

A friend of mine was supposed to help me put together my new system but due
to some problems he won't be returning from our country for a couple of
weeks, so I am left to figure it out myself (and with your help hopefully)

Am I suppose to connect the "Fan only" molex to the case fan? I thought it
was for any extra fans installed. I know it has to do with temp control.
I'm a little confused about these connections.

How am i to connect the case LEDs to the 20 pin panel? How do i know which
is - or +.

And last dumb question: Are the I/O panel 'blocks' used for grounding or do
you just bend the suckers off?

Please forgive my ignorance, but I wasn't supposed to be doing this in the
first place Smile.
Thank you so much.

Motherboard - Asus P4P800 Deluxe
Case - Antec Sonata

I connected it to the case fan - it is supposed to take care of case
cooling, minimizing noise.

If you connect it the wrong way round it just doesn't work. Doesn't damage
it though.
I suggest you put all the white wires (or black wires!) at the same end
(e.g. towards the front of the motherboard); try it and if the lights don't
work, change them all around. However, you may be able to save a bit of time
by reading the motherboard manual. The Sonata case connectors are quite
clearly labelled.

Which way do you mount the hard drives, with the cable end towards the
opening side of the case or the inside of the case? I'm about to add my
spare 120 gig IDE drive into my new NF7-S/Barton 2500+ system and I don't
think I'll be able to close the case with the drive and the seriell adapter
with the SATA cable.

How are people mounting this in the Sonata?

You should be able to close the case...might be easier with a right-angled
SATA cable like the one pictured at
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.cpustuff.com/category_1_Serial_ATA_Cables_page_1.html" target="_blank">http://www.cpustuff.com/category_1_Serial_ATA_Cables_page_1.html</a> if it's a
tight fit. If you're the type that swaps out drives and other components
frequently, you'd probably have an easier time with the connections facing
toward the left case panel, otherwise, cabling can be hidden out of the way
more effectively if you orient the drives the other way.

cable side out. it *will* close around it.
