Hi guys,
Got 2 problems, have the P5KR Mobo, just installed windowsXp, enabled the
Realtek HD Audio in the Bios, but tried to install the driver and it
progresses so far and then I get an error message Install Realtek HD Audio
Driver Failure.

The 2nd problem is when I put a disc i.e. Mobo disc in either of my DVD/CD
Rom drives, it does not auto play, I have auto play enabled, then when I go
to the My Computer it shows the drives with no disc in it, I click the
Drive it then opens the files up so I have to select auto run or setup.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks and Regards
Bob

For the first problem, there is a sample thread here.
http://groups.google.ca/group/microsoft.public.windowsxp.general/brows...rm/thre

Generally, the RealTek driver comes with a copy of the Microsoft UAA
stuff in it. HDaudio needs something added to the OS, to support
"universal audio architecture" or something like that. It may have
been released as KB888111, many moons ago.

If you had a RealTek ZIP file, when unzipped, you might find "MSHDQFE"
folder. The KB888111 is in there, but with recent downloads, only
the English version of the patch would be present.

So, the above thread, is suggesting the user download the UAA thing
direct from Microsoft, before installing RealTek. Then, if the KB888111
fails in the RealTek driver package, a version of UAA has
already been installed. You may need to pass a WGA check, to
download the thing from Microsoft.

HP also has a file, which presumably contains all this. If you
get desperate, install this, before the RealTek. I haven't received
any feedback about this one, as to whether it worked or not. It
supports more OSes, than the KB888111 entry at Microsoft, so is
perhaps a more recent version of the same thing. To date, the largest
package like this I've seen, is a bit more than 25MB. The HP one is
over 50MB. The root cause of this, is the fact that the package has
support for 20 or more languages. The package would be 1/20th of the
size, if it was provided on a per language basis (i.e. download English
only, and it would take 2.5MB). Since this is an InstallShield installer,
I couldn't look inside it, to see how it is structured.

I cannot help on the Autoplay thing. No idea where to look...

HTH,
Paul
