I saw the first public showing of the new AMD Athelon64 chip running
in a desktop and laptop at the Louisville, KY Million Man Lan2 event
on June 28. In the powerpoint presentation, they showed a micro PC
fortmat style Shuttle box. AMD would not confirm that such a product
would be released publicly (the'll let Shuttle do that).
They had the beta Windows XP-64 running and the laptop had Unreal
Tournament 2003 in 64 bit loaded as a demo. Impressive!
My question is with the cooling ability of the Shuttle and the 3 Gig
64 bit cpu scheduled to be released in Sept. It's similar to the
'barton' core at .13 microns and won't get thinner till 2004 when the
..09 micron chip is expected. Does anyone anticipate problems with
this setup? Would it be much different than a 3 Gig Athelon XP
currently available? What problems could I expect if I buy one when
1st released?
