Considering buying one of these....what is the overclocking potential of
this cpu and what core does it use....? My current system is detailed
below:

Athlon 64 4000+ Clawhammer 10x260 HTT 4 x 260
2 x 512mb G.Skill PC4400 2.5-4-4-8 1T
MSI MS-7100 Sli
ATI XT1800XT (PE BIOS) 512mb DDR3 GPU 700mhz / DDR 800x2
Win XP Pro SP2

Thanks all and HNYear!

same potential as the rest of the X2s, which is usually anywhere between
2.5-2.7GHz with air cooling, there's no set number. you might get lucky
and go stable higher but temps will get up there and you'd probably need
a better cooling solution.

it also depends on your motherboard... which is...?

the core, well it ships in different versions that have different
stepping, don't ask me which is best for OCing 'cause i have no clue. it
uses a 110W toledo core (i'm getting the 4200+ which is manchester, only
89W, less power = less heat). before paying extra for the cache make
sure your apps will actually use it, some games will have a small
performance advantage with cache, but thats about it.

cool - anything under 55C load is good. take it to 2.6, you know you
want to Wink will your ram do it at 1:1...?

i'll have the thermalright SI-120 so hopefully i'll have an edge with
cooling... but probably not by much, i want to stay on air and 2.6 would
be just awesome... i guess i would be happy with 2.5 though :/ Wink

Donchya just hate c**ts who don't state the gross overclock, ie - 2.38 GHz ?

at it's

Nope.
But it's just a bit c**tish to expect people to do the arithmetic (mental or
otherwise) because one is too much of a dork to state it oneself.

well lets see- below is my system:

Athlon 64 4000+ Clawhammer 10x260 HTT 4 x 260
2 x 512mb G.Skill PC4400 2.5-4-4-8 1T
MSI MS-7100 Sli motherboard
ATI XT1800XT (PE BIOS) 512mb DDR3 GPU 700mhz / DDR 800x2
Win XP Pro SP2

CPU is 2600mhz @ 1.55 v idle temp 35c load 45-50c and stable

What good is stating the o/c, if you don't state the default ?

Thanks.
One less idiot to deal with.

On a final note : -

The original poster (Kimmy) who got a bollocking for his/her/its annoying
inconsiderateness was the only one with any business in this thread.
He/she/it took it well and learned from the experience.

The three others who had absolutely f**k all business sticking their noses
in uninvited, are either very young or very dumb - take your pick.
Understand that when you stick your noses into such discussions uninvited,
you're gunna get flamed for stepping out of line.

I'm drawing a line underneath this now, so I don't want any more c**tish
remarks - OK ?
