Dear Group

I have been searching online for a case and power supply for a dual
Athlon MP system that I am building. According to the AMD cooling
guide:

http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/white_papers_and_tech_doc...ooling_

It is desirable to have a power supply with both a front and bottom
intake fan. It also makes mention of an AMD Athlon Processor
Recommended Power Supply. I have been searching online for cases with
desired features but I have not found a site that list these features.
Could someone here reccommend a site/manufacturer that builds cases
with cooling features that are in accordance with AMD's
reccommendations.

Thanks

Marcus D. Jacobs

Can't do better than Antec:

Their TruePower 480 or 550 are among the best PSUs around, and they make
industrial-strength cases to match.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Just but the case and get the PSU separate, the Enermax 400w has intake fans
on both top and bottom and has more than enough power for a MP system.

Easiest way is to get a case and PSU separate. I've got a generic mid-tower
case (one case fan at the back), and I added a generic (though judging by
the ratings, decent) 500W PSU with the bottom fan. Also added a bit of
ducting, but it wasn't all that necessary. All fine and dandy, even with a
30 deg C room temperature (two Barton 2500's at 2100MHz). Total cost would
be under $US100

Thanks for the info everone

One thing that I am curious about is the quality of various power
supplies. AMD has a reccommended power supplies list at:

<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/DevelopWithAMD/0,,30_2252_869_1039" target="_blank">http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/DevelopWithAMD/0,,30_2252_869_1039</a>^4038,00.html

I have come across some power supplies made by other manufacturers not
on the list such as Axio. Does anyone here have any opinion on using
power supplies not on this list? Are there substancial quality
differences. I have put quite a bit of money into this new system and
I would hate to fry it all will a bad power supply.

Thanks

Marcus
