Post subject: Athlon and Sempron Processors

Hi
I am building a system on a tight budget for a relative.
For the money I have a choice of the Athlon 2600+ with a Barton core or a
2800 Sempron.
I am not familiar with the Sempron and I am not sure which to go for.
Can anyone tell me which is the better processor or is the difference
neglible

Athlon XP 2600+ 1917Mhz 512KB 166FSB Barton
Sempron 2800+ 2000Mhz 256KB 166FSB Thoroughbred

I would go with the Athlon XP 2600+. The extra 256KB of L2 cache will do
more good than the extra 83Mhz.

Difference is negligable, the Barton might be 5% faster.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
