My problem: I can not get audio to encode on Real Producer Basic
8.51 because of an apparent conflict between my onboard audio and my
PCI modem.
I did a clean install of Win2000 Pro on a freshly formatted Maxtor
40gb drive.I'm using my existing Soyo KT7VA Pro board with Duron 900
and 768MB Ram (3 256 SDRAM). I loaded the latest VIA audio drivers
for the onboard sound and it works fine. My v.90 modem, Conextant
Soft56K also works and connects fine. Video Card is an ATI
All-In-Wonder 128.
When I open Real Producer, I can hear the TV/VCR audio coming
through the speakers. However, when I try to encode a clip the only
audio capture source I am given is "Modem Line Record" and I get an
error message that says "unable to initialize the audio capture
device."
When I uninstalled the modem Win2000 gave me the Line In source that
I needed to encode audio through Real. As soon as the modem was
reinstalled, the modem took over again as the audio source. I also
tried installing an old Creative Modem Blaster PCI, but ran into the
same problem.
In Device Manager, both the modem and VIA audio driver listed as
"Interrupt Request 11" and Windows says there are "No Conflicts."
Even more frustrating/perplexing; the same combination of BIOS
settings, hardware and software works perfectly when I boot to a
different harddrive running Win98SE.
Unfortunately, I need the modem so chucking it into the ocean is not
an option.
Can anyone here offer any suggestions, hints, tips that might lead
to a solution. Thanks in advance!!
