Post subject: Bad Mobo question for Epox Tech
Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>mainboard>epox (more info?)

Egad this is a long story.

I built a friend a computer with the 8KHA+ mobo. (256 megs ram, GeForce 3
TI200 64 meg video card, 2 gig boot drive and a 6 gig storage drive.)

He bought a 40 gig drive (Maxtor, supposedly new (sealed, but no box)) and I
had a massive amount of trouble just attempting to format and Fdisk it.

I eventually gave up and decided I'd check the new drive on a dedicated test
machine.

When I put his 6 gig back in this morning, it refused to boot. I would get
FF or CO depending on it's mood after being restarted.

After about 20 times of this I gave up. Then I hit the power switch one
last time before heading off to work and it booted fine. I shut it down
properly.

It booted fine again this afternoon.

Then after realizing I'd had the jumper on the new hard drive in the wrong
position the entire time, I foolishly put it back in my friends computer.

Nothing.....10 times. Fuck it, back with the 6 gig.

Now I either get FF, CO, or an alternating C1, C0.

What is the problem?

TIA,
TFM®
