Archived from groups: alt>comp>hardware>amd>thunderbird (more info?)

Okay I have a few processors that just "dont" boot
Palomino chips 1700+ and 1800+
pads look okay so they didnt melt off Wink .. Core on both are in a nice solid
purple shade, no heat markings at all, one of them looks like it has
chippings missing down the side (of the core that is) so i am going to
"assume" a chipped core (could I be wrong?), it shuts down maybee 5 or 10
seconds after it starts (even in a board with no thermal protection)
The other one just sits idle and the mobo says the cpu is bad..
all in all do I just have 2 chips for the bin or is there something else I
can try?..
