Hello,
Currently using the F5 Bios on the 8KNXP.
Just downloaded F6e Bios.
Does anybody know what the differences are between these two.
My system (8KNXP, 2 x 256Mb Corsair Twinx LL, 800Mb/3.0 Ghz) is stable with
memory timings 2/3/3/6 and the F5 Bios. So, I am reluctant to flash.
Any info would be appreciated
Regards, Boudewijn

Flashing to the f6b killed my board. Beware Smile

If it works, leave it alone till there is an official F6 release.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

It fixes memory compatibility issues and fixes compatibility with
certain harware. If everything works, leave it alone.

I'm impressed the original poster got Corsair XMS LL memory working on
F5, I couldn't get it stable at all and only the F6a bios got it up
and running.
It's working so stable now I'm almost to frightened to try a newer F6
beta release!

Dodgy.

Dodgy,
Thank you for being impressed, but I didn't do anything special.
Bios F5 is working fine. I've overclocked tot 212Mhhz without increasing any
voltages. Don't feel the need to go even higher by increasing voltages.
Timings 2/3/3/6. System is stable. CPU temp idle is about 43C, naturally
rising under load but never above about 55C.
I won't flash with a newer BIOS at all unless there is an oficial relaease
which will allow me to move to 2/2/2/5 timings.
Sorry to hear about all those who experience problems as regards stability.
Are you (and others) perhaps running WinXP? I am running W2K. What about
other BIOS settings. I would advise to disable everything that you don't
need, e.g. serial ports, parallel port, uSB 2.0 if you don't need that. etc.
Make yr system as lean as possible.
Good luck
Boudewijn

I recently did this myself with the 8INXP, i disabled all the onboard sound,
AC '97 modem and audio. I disabled the LAN entires, wake on lan etc.

I also disabled the Serial and Parallel ports, the joystick and MIDI ports.

What else could i possibly try to disable?...boot up numlock?, enable floppy
seek?...any others?<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
