I have a PC with 2 hard disks. I have reformated my data disk from NTFS to
Fat32 and every thing goes right except when starting .
The bios S.M.A.R.T . system warns me of the imminent failure of the data
disk and I have each time to ignore this by pressing F1;
Setting temporarily the IDE controller to "none" to ignore the disk and
ressetting, does nothing.
I dare not disconnect the disk because of the system volume information file
in Win XP.
What is the solution ? thanks >> Stay informed about: Bios Warning |

Why did you reformat it?

That has nothing to do with reformatting it, it is a
separate issue that "might" have simply be coincidence to
happen after you'd formatted (else you formatted because of
the failure and that failure simply progressed).

? You can disconnect the disk, the file has no bearing on
that. However, considering that your drive is probably
failing, you should backup the data ASAP. After backing up
the data, run the HDD manufacturer's diagnostics. >> Stay informed about: Bios Warning |

I wanted to have a disk readable by Dos

the warning appeared just after change from NTFS to FAT32

Just keep in mind that you have a potentially failing drive
and you shouldn't do ANYTHING till after you've backed up
that data, including letting it spin-down and cool off. >> Stay informed about: Bios Warning |

La conclusion de tous ces échanges est que
Tout le monde a raison
1 il y a des cas où c'est un vrai message
2 il y en a d'autres où c'est faux
Ceci dit si qqun pouvait me dire comment supprimer le message....c'était ma
question initiale ! >> Stay informed about: Bios Warning |

Peut être un bug connu de votre logiciel de setup ! Vérifiez sur le site
du constructeur de la CM si une mise à jour est disponible, et si oui si
elle résoud un prb similaire... >> Stay informed about: Bios Warning |
