Post subject: Bios upgrade query on k7s5a board..
Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>mainboard>elitegroup (more info?)

I want to flash the bios on my k7s5a board but having checked the ecs
website, i see that there are different types of k7s5a boards.
Obviously, i want to take great care that i apply the correct
flash..but cant identify the specific model of my board. I emailed
ecs support with as much board info as possible but they are saying
that i need to contact the vendor..the vendor has gone out of
business!

Can anyone assist in determining which one of the following my board
is:
K7S5A PCB 1.0 K7S5A PCB 1.0x K7S5A PCB 1.x K7S5A PCB 1.0/1.0a K7S5A
Pro

Copy of email below with as much board details as i could muster
together.

Other=Win XP Pro w. SP1
Problem=I want to flash the BIOS on a machine which has the K7S5A
motherboard. However, your websites download section mentions the
following model types: K7S5A PCB 1.0 K7S5A PCB 1.0x K7S5A PCB 1.x
K7S5A PCB 1.0/1.0a K7S5A Pro Given the nature of BIOS updates, i want
to make absolutely sure i download the correct update. Given the
information provided above/below, i would be grateful if you could
confirm which one of these options i should select in order to apply
the correct update.

Thanks in Advance

Assuming you definitely have a K7S5A and not a K7S5A Pro or any other
version, it doesn't matter what the revision is. You can use the same BIOS
on any revision, 1.x or 3.x. Download here
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://pub140.ezboard.com/bk7s5amotherboardforum," target="_blank">http://pub140.ezboard.com/bk7s5amotherboardforum,</a> official or HoneyX.

I had a look betweent the PCI slots on the board but couldnt find
anything that looked like a mainboard model number. However, on the
bios chip there was a plain white sticker with 'K7S5A 155' written on
it. Could this be the model and version number? Would it then be a
K7S5A 1.55 board?

Dont mean to be anal about this but i want to be sure before applying
the flash.

No, that's probably a batch number or something like that. My K7S5A
v3.1 has a similar sticker, but with 165 instead of 155.

As I understand it, if there is no model number silk-screened anywhere
on the board itself, then it will be a version 1.x board.

As others have indicated, the same BIOS updates apply to *all*
original K7S5A models (v1.x thru v3.x), so it really does not matter.

I've found the best BIOS to be the HoneyX O/C BIOS.

I agree with Shep. I have the K7S5A Rev. 1 and have flashed the Honey X
BIOS and all is well.
I am using the oc 021209b BIOS.
