I've downloaded the latest update for my mainboard bios (26) and flashed the
bios via the "Flash Menù" utility.
Everything was correct and I've switched off PC, removed the AC cord in the
back of the chassis and resetted the c-mos via the proper jumper. After one
minute I've turned on PC and entered in the bios loading fail safe defaults.
At system boot a blue screen on death (IRQ_LESS_NOT_EQUAL) block any attempt
to logon in Windows XP; no way to load the last functioning configuration o
the safe mode.
So I've boot from a floppy and restored the previous version of bios (24)
and now the PC is working correctly.
I'm wondering about a way to update bios without to have that BSOD.

Sorry for my poor english.

Your english is fine. Try moving your PCI cards around after the BIOS
update or remove them all, then update, then install them 1 by 1 until
you either find the problem or it boots good.

On the other hand, if the current bios is working fine for you an update
might not be needed.

Do you have the latest VIA HyperionPro Driver installed
from www.viaarena.com? Try installing the latest version
before doing the BIOS upgrade. Sometimes the Windows drivers
are expecting the BIOS to work a certain way, the new
Windows drivers will allow for the way the newer BIOS works.
