| P5K+E6850 cpu. CPU-Z is reading as 6x333mhz=2ghz in XP and in Vista64 it
fluctuates between 6x333mhz and 9x333mhz. I have speedstep disabled in the
bios so why am I getting this discrepancy and am not using power savings
that should affect this.

What about the other BIOS settings?
Modify Ratio Support: Disable
C1E CPUID Value Limit: Disable
Max. CPUID Value Limit: Disable >> Stay informed about: CPU-Z not working with P5K? |

BTW, that's in Advanced settings, CPU Configuration. I had the same
thing happen and setting the above to disabled fixed the problem. The
main culprit is the C1E CPUID; C1E is a "sleep", or something similar
setting. >> Stay informed about: CPU-Z not working with P5K? |

Yea, I went and found that out after I posted here by looking up how to
overclock the C2D. Thanks anyway. >> Stay informed about: CPU-Z not working with P5K? |

I have the E4300 that does this as well, changes between a 6x and a 9x
multiplier. I know it is an energy-savings feature and it works fine. My CPU
is overclocked to 3GHz, but spends most of its time at 2GHz.
I cannot understand why people would want to disable this feature. Why use
more electrical power than necessary (unless you heat your house from
electricity anyways)? >> Stay informed about: CPU-Z not working with P5K? |

Because I didn't buy a 3.0ghz cpu and then over clock it to 3.4ghz so it can
run at 2.0ghz. It would be like buying a Ferrari and driving it at 50kmh.
The extra power usage probably adds up to maybe five bucks a year on my
electrical bill, BFD. >> Stay informed about: CPU-Z not working with P5K? |

That statement is plain outright stupid, I beg your pardon. >> Stay informed about: CPU-Z not working with P5K? |

Just think of the energy that can be saved if it was made mandatory that we
can only drive 4 banger cars. >> Stay informed about: CPU-Z not working with P5K? |

If you don't understand what I said then it is you who is stupid. I expect
you have never overclocked a cpu so don't know the issues that can arise
from cpu throttling. I bought a new cpu so I can have a faster PC - ALL THE
FUCKING TIME AND NOT JUST SOME OF THE TIME! Did you understand that? How
about this? I run my PC how I see fit and you run yours as you see fit. Now
STFU and mind your own business. You have added nothing of value to this
thread and only posted to insult me because I run my PC different from you.
And don't give me a load of twaddling bollocks about saving the planet by
running the cpu 1ghz slower than it's stock speed, morons. >> Stay informed about: CPU-Z not working with P5K? |

Global temperatures are never static, they increase or decrease. In the last
50 years the earths average temperature has risen 1 degree Celsius. I would
be more concerned with the next cooling cycle. History has shown that is
when mass extinction occurs.
