Hi all.
Your group was recommended to me. (That person believes that there
are a lot of Canon users here.)
I have been searching for my first digi camera. I am down to these
four Canons - S45, S230, S400, and A80. I am an amatuer that doesn't
take a whole lot of pictures, but would like to get the best performance
possible among these 4. I have read reviews for all on epinions.com. It
is just so hard to decide now. Any serious PROS or CONS for these? Any
input appreciated! Feel free to email me directly at
halfstep-2.TakeThisOut@webtv.net

Thank you very much!
Eric

I would check out the reviews here
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/cameraList.php" target="_blank">http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/cameraList.php</a>
If the link doesn't work, go to <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.dcresource.com" target="_blank">www.dcresource.com</a> and then there is a link
to reviews near the top of the page.
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.steves-digicams.com" target="_blank">www.steves-digicams.com</a> also gives good reviews

<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.dcviews.com" target="_blank">www.dcviews.com</a> lists reviews for those and other cameras.

Combining the reviews for a pro/con list should give you a good idea
of how they perform and behave.

As far as the Canons go, the A80 (Ax0-series) is heavier than the
smaller Sxx0-series, but includes a better manual mode and it also
takes accessory lenses and (polarizing and other) filters thru the
use of a 52mm threaded lens adapter!

I certainly value that possiblility with my A60, but from my
experience with the limitations of 2 megapixels i will recommend
getting 4 megapixels as it will make your camera last longer, and
that's not a bad thing concidering the cost of these cameras.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I just purchased a Canon S50 (my first digicam). Combine the 5
Megapixel quality with the terrific software from Canon, and you get a
great beginner's package for a reasonable price.

Good luck.
