Hi there,

I have a problem wih the above mentioned CD drive. It's sitting in a Compaq
Deskpro 6200, on a Adapetc 2940UW SCSI-Controller.

Under Windows 2000, it's recognized as a CD-ROM drive and an additional
"removable media" drive (!).
Unfortunately, I can't find any specs for this device on the Compaq website
or anywhere else on the web; is it a CD writer or just a CD-ROM drive?

Can anyone give me some hints to that device?

Thanks,
Stefan

You have a PD-CD drive... It will not do CD-R, or CD-RW. It used removable
media in a square cartridge. It was a re-writable drive. Without the
special cartridges, it is just a CD-ROM drive. 3M made the cartridges, and
they ran about $50 US each. I suggest you search on PD-CD and Panasonic (or
Compaq) for further information.

He's right, but I suggest you chunk the thing and spend $35 on a CDRW drive.

Uh, a SCSI CD-RW for $35? I doubt it.
