Can someone shed some lite on Asus motherboards.I want to upgrade to
AM2 but I dont want to fork out on a PCI Express video as well. Asus
are very vauge in this area. some brefly mention a single word hinting
on intigrated video.
the M2N-VM DH breefly mentions NVIDIA GeForce 6100 / nForce 430 in the
breef speck but no mention anywhere else. Others have no mention of
any intigrated video but a connector is visible on a picture.

1 x VGA/RGB out
1 x VGA/DVI-D out
Note: DVI-D can not be converted to output RGB signal to CRT.

If you do decide on PCI Express video it has a single PCI Express x16 slot.

Here's a link to the mb from Asus with integrated video using an AMD AM2
socket that I installed a few weeks ago from newegg.com . There were no
problems at all with installation and it works quite nicely.

Thanks Jan.

Does the BIOS offer any options to increase Vcore or Vdimm?

You may want to take a look at the MSI K9NBPM-2 which has almost identical
specs but is $18 cheaper and is rated higher by newegg users (5 stars vs. 4
stars -- only 54% gave the ASUS 5 stars vs. 72% for the MSI board)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130065

Disclosure: I'm currently running an Asus board. But seriously considering
the MSI.

Who's basing their decision on newegg customer reviews? It's just one of
numerous factors to include in making a decision. And if you totally ignore
customer feedback, you're sure to eventually get burned.

Now.... do you have anything intelligent to offer re the MB issues?

I found changing voltage somewhat limiting for the RAM. Choice is either
AUTO or 1.9v.
I didn't find anything for the cpu vcore, only multiplier or cpu frequency
adjustments. Lots of adjustments for RAM timings. I might suggest if you're
interested particularly in any board that you download the manual.
What I particularly enjoyed was downloading the newest bios and easily
updating in through its windows program.

I have seen isolated instances of "salting".

The strangest one, was for a Rosewill PCI USB2 card. The cards sell for
like $10 or less. Yet, there were about 30 "reviews" written in
"Taiwanese English", extolling the virtues of the product. Most
were short blurbs of text, making it look like the author was
suffering pain trying to compose the dribble inserted. It left
me shaking my head, why Rosewill would waste their time even
trying that. The "salt" couldn't have come from Newegg, because
the english used wouldn't be quite that bad.

Salting is pretty easy to recognize, and I used to get a chuckle
back in the day, at some of the stuff "salted" into Resellerratings.com .

Thanks Jan. I'm looking two micro-ATX motherboards, one each of Socket
775 and AM2 to be used in fanless HTPCs. Overclocking features would be
a bonus.

Years ago I purchased an item from Newegg.com. I wrote a negative
review and after a few days of the review not showing up on the Newegg
site I emailed them. They refused to post a negative review. I even
received a phone call at home from a Newegg customer service guy who
said they would not post my negative review. However he wanted to know
what it would take for me to just drop the whole issue. I told him that
I would not drop the issue and if Newegg would not post my negative
review that I would post it on Resellerratings.com along with a negative
review of Newegg. So I tried to. Well Resellerratings.com wouldn't post
my review either. Please note that there was no profanity in my review.
After going round and round with the owner of Resellerratings.com I was
threatened with a lawsuit if I told my story on the internet.
To make a long story short Resellerratings.com told me that they make
most of their money on advertising including from companies that people
write reviews of on their site. I was told that my negative review would
cost Resellerratings.com money. When I told them I would spread this
info on the internet I was threatened with a lawsuit. (I still have the
emails to prove this.)
I never spread the info all over the net but if the topic comes up I
will take the opportunity to tell my story. I now see negative reviews
on Newegg.com so I believe they changed their process. I have never gone
back to Resellerratings.com so I don't know if they ever changed theirs.
But I would take anything at Resellerratings.com with a grain of salt. I
see Paul that you do to.

I appreciate you going through the details to what you went through to
try to post a negative review at Newegg and on Resellerratings as well. I'm
surprised that Newegg handled negativity (then) in that manner and I guess
I've been lucky in the many purchases I've made from them for my school as
well as myself.
