What is Core Center - and how does it work?

It appears to be overclocking software - but I'd like to know how to utilize
it to it's fullest.

Thanks!

I have been waiting for someone more knowledge to answer your question; but
since no one has, I will give you my opinion/experience.
Core Center appears to be some type of monitoring/OC software with no
documentation (that I have found). The GUI is terrible. The CPU temperature
it reports is about 4 degrees (C) higher than Motherboard Monitor. I made
some changes in my BIOS that caused my system to crash. The FSB was reset to
100MHz. When I attempted to increase the FSB with Core Center (not
overclocking), my system crashed. I had to reset the FSB in the BIOS to get
going again.
Upon reflection, changing the FSB within Windows does not seem like a wise
thing to do.

Hope this helps,
Pete

Hmmm....

It is overclocking software, and more....

It can allow you to alter FSB speed and voltages, and it can do so
automatically as well. On my K8T NEO, I put it in auto - and it did crash,
but upon reboot it had determined the maximum overclock that was stable for
my processor without increasing the core voltage - or any for that matter.
What it also did was alter DDR timings to make it all work ( and I have slow
ram ). While it is true that info on it is minimal, you will have some idea
if you are an oc afficionado - and maybe even if you are not. I don't know
if oc'ing from windows is a good idea or not, but I do like not having to
reset my bios - clear my cmos - when I crash and burn. The fact is, an
unstable oc can screw windows no matter what you do.

I found this:
Core Center

"MSI's Core Center is the software interface with their CoreCell technology.
It's actually a very handy utility, and displays some useful system
information, such as speed and temperature. It's a memory resident
application, that sits in your taskbar, but you can lauch and close it at
will if you wish. According to Windows Task Manager, it eats about 5MB of
memory, which isn't too much.

You're also able to overclock your system via the Core Center. By pressing
"Auto", your FSB will slowly move up, but I should warn you that it goes
until your system locks up unless you stop it. I found this feature to be
shakey at best, since in the past, a bad OC will force a reboot, and in most
cases all was well. With the Core Center, I actually lost a bunch of USB
system files after the OC lockup. Use with care, and personally, I still
prefer tweaking through the BIOS."
