Are you running WinXP? If you are I have some semi bad news:
"Windows XP does not support EMS. To use expanded memory, you must install
an expanded memory device driver that conforms to version 4.0 of the
Lotus/Intel/Microsoft Expanded Memory Specification (LIM EMS)."
As far as running the game, try the "Compatibility Mode" feature. It has
helped me to run some older games on WinXP Pro. (Red Baron)

P.S. FSB 204 x 10.5 with my XP2100 with 512MB of "Mystery Memory" I got on
eBay for $63. Prime95 and memtest86 stable! The XP1700 will "only" do 200 x
10.5  <!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: anyone get DOS EMM to work on AN35N? |

Hi Frank!
still running my 1700, and I notice the 2500's have gone up! har!
I normally run XP, but for games I use native DOS (7.0) or win98se.
It seems that this board reacts badly to emm. I have:
Main memory: 640KB, free 619KB
Extended MEM: 960KB, free 63324KB XMS
Expanded mem not installed.

I am at a loss to explain that Possibly the board and BIOS were simply
optimized for Win9X and XP. If all else fails get an old K6/2-450 system on
eBay and run DOS. You could use one of those switching setups and use the
same monitor and keyboard. Truly sorry I couldn't be of more help.

stumbled into an answer. a site suggested that devices were taking
up upper memory. Since this was a DOS boot, I looked in the BIOS
and deleted or dissabled thingsa like apic, etc, but it seems to
have been the USB keyboard support that broke the camel's back. I
don't need that and w/o it emm386 works just fine (not on win98se
or XP, though).
Why? I would guess that with the advent of usb2.0, it needs
more upper mem. I run 1.1 only (in BIOS) cause Win98se and my
Canon FG620U don't seem to want to talk to each other on 2.0 , but
that's not a prob for me. I did see the IRQ's change quite a bit
when I played with the devices as it kept rebuilding the DMI table,
differently - no prob - just had to move my sound card to another
slot. Still haven't gotten it to work in DOS yet, but haven't
played with it much - that should be easy (bow to the four corners
and make an offering of chip dust!)
Thanks for your thoughts!
