Hello,
Last year I built a pc with the Fatality an8 mobo, and I installed the 939
pin Athlon clawhammer 3500 processor.
I guess my first and foremost question is can I install the AMD 64x2 3200
without any problems? And second I'm an avid gamer and I realize the dual
cores are top notch at multi tasking. That said would I be better off going
with a single core AMD 4000 or switching to a dual core processor if mobo
permits. >> Stay informed about: DUAL VS SINGLE CORE HELP PLEASE |

Look up your mobos CPU compatibility list at ABits website. Most likely,
any socket 939 CPU will work, even the X2 dual core cpu's.

Received wisdom (which is probably correct, in this case) is that a
gamer is currently better off buying the best single-core chip (s)he
can get for whatever money (s)he plans to spend on a CPU. AFAIK, no
current games are able to use more than a single processor. XP can
make use of 2 cores, but if you run a game on a dual core system you
will end up with one core being thrashed by the game and the second
idling almost all the time. You are better off buying a CPU with a
single, faster, core.

With a dual core, the game will run on one core, XP will be using the
other core. The end result is a more responsive system.

Absolutely true, of course, but most people don't need a responsive
system (other than within the game) when they are gaming.
