Hello to all. I have a Liteon LDW 411-S on my clone P4 machine. I am using
Nero 6 for burning DVDs. All of a sudden it will only burn in 1X mode? It is
a 4X burner and I'm using 4X DVDs....
What has happened??
Thanks in advance

Maybe you are using really crappy media or incompatible media for your
drive which perceives it as 1x.

One thing I noticed. My fairly old Liteon DVDROM wont recognize stuff
burned on 4x media - at least the brands Ive tried (cheapos like
Khypermedia) and there hasnt been an update for ages for it in
firmware so Im sticking with 2x media which it recognizes.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

My LG4081B recently decided to work no faster than 1X.
The buffer level in Nero while burning jumped from low to high and the cpu
was working 100%.

I found through the Device Manager that the DVD writer was now working in
PIO mode and not the DMA2 that it usually does.

Uninstalling the chipset drivers, then a couple of reboots followed by
chipset driver reinstall and it was all back to normal. Nero showing the
buffer full while burning and CPU usage back to normal too.
